Kate Atherton

Kate Atherton is a comics artist and illustrator living and working in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Rhode Island School of Design and has BFA in Illustration. Kate has worked as a set painter (for the Cleveland Playhouse and Talespinner Children's Theatre), an illustrator (Kringle's Inventionasium, Heights Arts, Edible Cleveland), a comics/art workshop teacher (Lake Erie Ink, RISE at Near West Theatre), a Props designer (Near West Theatre), and as a performer, actor and stage manager. Kate's comics have been published in the Scene Magazine comics issue and she spent the year 2021 creating an issue a month of her fiction comic 'Survival' which she will be self publishing in 2022.

Kate creates lavish, detailed ink paintings and drawings as well as pen and ink comics based on literature, pop culture, and her day to day life working at the library, the bakery and out and about in Cleveland.

 

She works part time at the University Heights Public library as a Youth Services Associate and is currently pursuing her Master of Library and Information Science degree at Kent State University.
